How we can help you move forward through separation

Family Law

We understand that we cannot remove the human element from what we do and we exercise the necessary insight and sensitivity to help you work through your family law issues so that you can move towards your future.

We also understand the upheaval that our clients experience when they come to see us and we treat our clients with compassion and empathy while providing practical and sensible solutions to assist our clients to come to speedy resolution if possible. We do this by educating our clients about various settlement avenues throughout the matter. We also encourage child inclusive mediation where possible to ensure that our clients not only arrive at the best outcome for themselves but also for any children of a relationship.

We understand that mediation can allow the parties to retain a certain level of control as to the outcome of any settlement. Whereas, if the parties rely on a Judge to make a decision, it can often lead to disappointment. However, we do understand that mediation may not be practical or may not work in all cases and in such cases we will ensure that we provide you with realistic expectations of any likely outcome, prepare your case well, and we will speak up on your behalf at Court.

The First Step

The first step is to attend an initial consultation  where we sit with you to understand you, your family and the history of  the matter.

This is one of the most important meetings we have with you as we explain the process, discuss the issues relevant to you and develop a way forward to work toward a resolution.

The services we provide depends on your needs.  We do the following:

  • Provide realistic and practical family law advice;

  • Advise and guide you through the family law settlement process, including representation at mediation or family dispute resolution process;

  • Negotiate settlements for both financial and parenting matters, ensuring that you are comfortable with the details of those negotiations every step of the way (you make the decisions, not us - we simply advise you of the options available to you, and you decide what is best for you and your children having regard to that advice);

  • Draft settlement documents and implementation of settlement; and

  • If negotiation is not successful, commence proceedings and represent you throughout litigated family law matters.
